What is Internet?
The Internet is a vast network of networks that communicate with each other based on a set of software protocols that direct the traffic so that information can pass between networks. Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) and Internet Protocol (IP) defines the rules of data packets that are designated and sent in fiberglass, copper, satellite, and wireless networks.
- Physical Internet network consists of various components including:
- Fiber networks owned or leased by the provider of Internet backbone routers.
- Network Access Point (NAP) in which Internet service providers (ISPs) connect their networks in order to exchange Internet traffic.
- Host server that stores the content.
- Access Line which provides business customers and regular users connection to the point of presence (POP) of the ISP.
Provider need build Infrastructure, and we as users are required to pay if we use the internet connection. Parties need money to take care of their infrastructure, electricity costs and maintenance costs their fiber optic cables. so, the Internet was not free after all.
